PBIS School-Wide Expectations
At Green Intermediate School, a set of universal expectations for behavior, positively stated, have been established for all students in all locations of the school. These expectations promote core values such as safety, kindness, and responsibility. Our school-wide expectations are built on the principles that all students conduct themselves in a way that is safe, kind, and responsible…this is what we call being “BulldogStrong”. Classes have been introduced to a BulldogStrong School-Wide Behavior Expectations matrix that reminds students of the behaviors we expect within our building.
Positive behavior is acknowledged, rewarded, and celebrated daily. In fact, when students follow the expectations, they are awarded BulldogStrong beads. Each homeroom class chooses a reward to work toward, then collectively work together to fill their class jar with BulldogStrong beads. When the jar is full, the whole class celebrates by partaking in a special reward and or incentive. In this way, students learn the value of working together and that being safe, kind, and responsible will lead to success.
“The goal of Positive Behavior Support is not to create “perfect children”. Rather, the goal [is to] create the perfect environment for enhancing their growth.” -Randy SprickWe encourage you to have daily conversations with your children about the expectations that are in place in their individual classrooms and in our school or even create a BulldogStrong home matrix.
Ohio’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Recognition System provides an opportunity to celebrate schools and districts. Each year, the Ohio Department of Education and the PBIS Network recognize schools and districts for their quality and fidelity of PBIS implementation. Green Intermediate School received a Bronze Award in 2023.
