Mrs. Morgan

Welcome to Green Intermediate! My name is Mrs. Lori Morgan and I am the school counselor for all 5th and 6th graders at Green Intermediate School. I provide an array of counseling services to meet the needs of our students, parents and staff. Often students will request to see me, but teachers or parents may also refer students. If you would like me to talk with your child about a problem or concern, please contact me via email or phone. I look forward to helping each child have a wonderful school experience and reach their full potential while here at Green Intermediate!
I am a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, a Masters Degree in School Counseling and an Educational Specialist Degree in Counseling. I began teaching in Beachwood City Schools as a Special Education Hearing Impaired Teacher for 1st-3rd grade students. I am fluent in American Sign Language. I have also worked in Cloverleaf Local Schools and Springfield Local Schools as an elementary and high school counselor.

I am a nationally trained crisis response counselor. Since 2000, I have spent time working with the National Organization of Victim Assistance (NOVA). NOVA is a national crisis response team that works directly with the Department of Justice and FEMA when major disasters or crimes occur. I have worked as a counselor with NOVA at Ground Zero after September 11th, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Francis, multiple school and community mass shootings and various school related student and staff deaths. I am currently a member of the NOVA along with the Ohio Crisis Response Team and the Ohio Education Association Crisis Response Team. I have presented locally and nationally on topics of trauma and grief.
I am also lucky to have a very special “co-counselor” named Shakespeare. Shakespeare is a professionally trained facility dog from Canine Companions. He is a yellow Labrador Retriever and after we completed the application process and training, he joined our staff in June of 2020.  He is present at Green Intermediate School every day and enhances the lives of our students and staff in a unique and special way. Facility dogs are expertly trained dogs who partner with a facilitator and work in a health care, visitation or educational setting. A Canine Companions facility dog is task trained to perform service dog commands including picking up items, opening doors and providing calming pressure across the client’s lap or body. Their 45 trained skills can be utilized to enhance therapies, promote participation and reduce anxiety for clients in professional environments.  A Canine Companions facility dog is bred to be calm, reliable and affectionate. Additionally, the handler can integrate a facility dog into a variety of  structured therapies and utilize it to facilitate social interactions. I am proud to call Green home and reside in Green with my husband Roger and 4 children. All of our children have attended Green Local Schools.  In addition to Shakespeare our family also participate as Volunteer Puppy Raisers for Canine Companions.
