Mrs. Morgan

Welcome to Green Intermediate! My name is Mrs. Lori Morgan and I am the school counselor for all 5th and 6th graders at Green Intermediate School. I provide an array of counseling services to meet the needs of our students, parents and staff. If you would like me to talk with your child about a problem or concern, please contact me via email or phone. I provide one-on-one counseling with students, group mediation, small group counseling along with collaboration with our teacher teams through weekly team meetings. Often students will request to see me, but teachers or parents may also refer students. I have guidance office area where students are able to drop notes for me to speak with them. I look forward to helping each child have a wonderful school experience and reach their full potential while here at Green Intermediate!

I am a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelors Degree in Special Education, a Masters Degree in School Counseling and an Educational Specialist Degree in Counseling. I began teaching in Beachwood City Schools as a Special Education Hearing Impaired Teacher for 1st-3rd grade students. I am fluent in American Sign Language. I have also worked in Cloverleaf Local Schools and Springfield Local Schools as an elementary and high school guidance counselor.

I am a nationally trained crisis response counselor. Since 2000, I have spent time working with the National Organization of Victim Assistance (NOVA). NOVA is a national crisis response team that works directly with the Department of Justice and FEMA when major disasters or crimes occur. I have worked as a counselor with NOVA at Ground Zero after September 11th, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Francis, a mass shooting in California, a triple murder and kidnapping in East Knox, Chardon High School shootings and various school related student and staff deaths. I am currently a member of the NOVA along with the Ohio Crisis Response Team and the Ohio Education Association Crisis Response Team. I have presented locally and nationally regarding dealing with crisis/trauma victims and families. At times, I have counseled victims and families with my "sidekick" a registered therapy dog named Bella. Occasionally, you may see my therapy dog Bella accompanying me to work to visit with our students at Green Intermediate. I have been using therapy dogs in my classroom and my job as a counselor for 20 years.

I reside in Green with my husband Roger and 4 children. My children range in ages from 12 years-5 years. I also have three dogs named  Sophie, Bella and Hallie.  I visit Akron Children's Hospital monthly with Bella as part of the "Doggie Brigade" Therapy Dog Program.
